Nearly 100 students from Eastland Career Center and Fairfield Career Center will compete at the SkillsUSA Regional Conference after local competitions were held at each campus, recently.

Eastland and Fairfield Career Centers held their respective local competitions before the holiday break and crowned 86 champions, combined. Each campus welcomed business partners, alumni, and staff to serve as judges for students who participated in a series of competitions relating to their field of study.

At Fairfield Career Center, 35 event champions were named and 37 students will go on to represent the campus at the SkillsUSA regional competition. Eastland Career Center boasts 48 event champions and will send 62 representatives to the regional conference.

Certain events will send their winners directly to the SkillsUSA Ohio state competition. These events, known as “straight-to-state” events, are listed separately. Thirty-two students between the two campuses will advance directly to the State Conference, 26 coming from ECC and six from FCC.

Eastland Career Center, Fairfield Career Center, and its satellite programs participate in SkillsUSA competitions as separate chapters of the organization. Three individuals enrolled in Eastland-Fairfield satellite programs competed in and won their respective events as a part of the ECC local competition, but will not compete at regionals with the group.

A full list of event winners and regional qualifiers is displayed below by campus chapter.

The SkillsUSA Ohio regional competition will begin with the first events taking place on January 31. Select events will run through February with state qualifiers being announced after competitions are complete.

The SkillsUSA Ohio State Championships brings over 5,000 competitors, business and industry partners, instructors, and vendors together in over 100 contests in all 16 career pathways to showcase career and technical Education in Ohio. Students compete for the title of best in Ohio in their respective career fields. State-level competitions will begin in late March and be held through April 9 at various locations. The SkillsUSA Ohio State Championships and its award ceremonies will be held on April 9-10 at The Greater Columbus Convention Center.
