Eastland-Fairfield Adult Workforce Development celebrated its graduates from the HVAC, LPN, Plumbing, and Basic Police Officer Training programs on July 11, 2024.
Families, friends, and staff members came together to celebrate graduates from multiple Eastland-Fairfield Career & Technical Schools Adult Workforce Development (AWD) programs on Thursday, July 11, 2024.
Thirty-four students were celebrated and awarded their certificates of completion from their respective programs at Eastland Career Center. Graduates from the HVAC, Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), Plumbing, and Basic Police Officer Training (BPOT) programs were recognized for their hard work and determination to complete their programs, as well as their courage to embark on their own career and life improvement journeys.
Franklin County Chief Deputy Jim Gilbert served as the keynote speaker of the ceremony and delivered a congratulatory and inspiring message to all graduates, especially those entering the peacekeeping profession. Student speakers from each program were invited to share thoughts on their experiences. Then, special awards were presented to the most outstanding students from each program before career passports were delivered.

Prior to graduation, students and staff from the LPN program joined to perform a medical field tradition whose origins date back to the 12th century. A pinning ceremony was held at the Engineering Technologies Center where friends and family were invited to witness their loved ones take the Oath for Nurses and light the Florence Nightingale Lamp. Each student selected a loved one to apply their pin and personally thank for their support throughout their journey.
