Eastland-Fairfield Career & Technical Schools Adult Workforce Development will introduce two new programs this Fall: Industrial Automation and Broadband Infrastructure Training. Eastland-Fairfield staff is ready to begin working with students interested in both programs.

The Industrial Automation (IA) and Broadband Infrastructure Training (BITP) programs are being introduced in response to demand and workforce shortages in both fields.

“Eastland-Fairfield Adult Workforce Development is actively involved in statewide initiatives to expand training opportunities for in-demand career pathways that produce sustainable incomes,” said Adult Workforce Director Todd Hoffman. “We’re excited to bring in expert instructors to help give adult students the opportunity to advance their careers, contribute toward the infrastructure of their communities, and better themselves and loved ones.”

Eastland-Fairfield will offer the Broadband Infrastructure Training program to students aged 18 and over with a high school diploma or GED/HSE certificate. Up to four industry credentials are available, as well as hands-on training to prepare students for careers in broadband and fiber optic cable installation and maintenance in a variety of settings.

The BITP customized training program lasts 14 weeks and will be hosted at the Fairfield County Workforce Center in Carroll, Ohio, three evenings a week. The training will prepare program completers to become certified Telecommunications Line and Equipment installation and repair technicians with additional career opportunities available with experience.

Eastland-Fairfield will host an Open House event for BITP on August 22, 2024, at the Fairfield County Workforce Center. The event will run from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. and allow those interested to explore the facility, learn more about the course content, meet the instructor, and be the first to register for the first class.

The first class of students may be eligible for their training to be fully funded through grants offered by JFS - Franklin County. For more information about the program, the Open House event, or how to qualify for free training, go to www.EastlandFairfield.com/broadband or call 614-836-4541, ext. 1537.

In a statement made upon announcing the partnership, Ohio Governor Mike DeWine said, “To expand high-speed internet across the state, we need to build the broadband industry workforce. In fact, we’ll need about 32,000 skilled workers to prepare the infrastructure alone.”
