Eastland-Fairfield Career & Technical Schools is proud to announce that its students recorded a series of outstanding achievements at the Business Professionals of America (BPA) National Leadership Conference, held in Chicago, Ill., recently. Among the top finishes between its two BPA chapters, Eastland-Fairfield students collected two team national championships and saw one individual crowned a national champion, in addition to a handful of top-10 finishers.
Representing the Programming & Software Development program at Eastland Career Center (ECC), two teams of students swept the top two spots in the Software Engineering Team competition category. The national championship team included recent graduates Anmol Acharya (Reynoldsburg), Jack Kennedy (Gahanna), Christopher Kowalewski (Reynoldsburg), and Xander Mooney (Reynoldsburg).
The national runner-up Software Engineering team consisted of Dalton Bartholomew (Groveport), Jack Gill (Teays Valley), Paige Ingram (Bexley), and Caden Mesina (Teays Valley).
The Programming & Software Development program continued its great run of success with a second national champion. Recent graduate Aaron Moore (Whitehall-Yearling) took gold in the Database Applications competition.
With these victories, it marks the first time in ECC history that two national champions came from the Programming & Software Development program. It also marks Eastland Career Center’s first BPA national champion in nearly 10 years and continues a streak of six consecutive years in which at least one student or team has finished in the top 10, nationally, from the program.
The Multimedia satellite program found its way on the top step of the podium once again when its Video Production team took first place, overall. Pickerington North seniors Keira Bryant, Jack Spear, and Cai Watts, plus Pickerington Central senior Marshall Wickman were named national champions in that event. With their finish, the Multimedia program has won six national championships in the last nine years.
The Visual Design team, which consisted of seniors Parker Dickerson (Canal Winchester), Gracie Decker (Pickerington North), and Gracie Crow (Pickerington Central), was named national runners-up. This marks three national runner-up finishes for Multimedia students or teams since 2015.
Eleven students from Eastland Career Center programs and 15 students from the Multimedia satellite program, located at Pickerington High School North, competed at the BPA National Leadership Conference. These students represent two BPA chapters within the EFCTS district. A complete list of finishes by EFCTS students is provided below.
