Eastland-Fairfield Career & Technical Schools

Eastland-Fairfield Career & Technical Schools is proud to announce that 25 students have qualified to compete at the 2024 BPA National Leadership Conference following their performance at the recent state competition. Among the group, eight students were crowned state champions and nine were state runners-up. The collection of students represents two of its BPA chapters from Eastland Career Center and its Multimedia satellite program, housed at Pickerington High School North. 

The Multimedia satellite program at Pickerington High School North sent 19 students to the state competition with eight returning to campus as state champions and 14 as national qualifiers. 

Senior Macy Erickson (Pickerington North) was crowned state champion in the Digital Media Production event, marking the only solo state champion of the Multimedia group. 

Joining her as state champions was the Video Production Team, comprised of Pickerington Central senior Marshall Wickman, and Pickerington North seniors Cai Watts, Keira Bryant, and Jack Spear. From the Visual Design Team, Claire Decker (PNHS), Gracie Crow (PNHS), and Parker Dickerson (Canal Winchester) took first place and will join their classmates at Nationals.

The all-Pickerington North User Experience (UX) Design team of Caden Scarberry, Lincoln Purcell, Aidan Montei, and Caleb Strong took second place in the state behind their project. Leah Duff (Bloom-Carroll) and Hannah Highly (Bloom-Carroll) placed third overall. Both groups also earned spots at the BPA National Conference for their performances. 

Of the 31 students from the ECC BPA chapter, 15 placed inside the top 10 of their respective categories or events. Six students have earned the right to compete at the BPA National Conference as individuals. Five students placed second overall, including Programming & Software Design seniors Alexander Colburn (Pickerington Central), Aaron Moore (Whitehall-Yearling), Xander Mooney (Reynoldsburg), Christopher Kowalewski (Reynoldsburg), and Medical Office junior Mary Camara (Reynoldsburg). 

While Xander Mooney took second overall in the C++ Programming event, classmate Anmol Acharya (Reynoldsburg) placed fourth place, good for a national qualifying mark and giving EFCTS two top-5 finishes in the same event.

Eight students will represent Eastland Career Center in a second event. Following a BPA National Virtual Event competition that was held in February, two different Software Engineering teams finished top 10 in the nation and will advance to Nationals to compete in person. Team One includes Dalton Bartholomew (Groveport Madison), Jack Gill (Teays Valley), Paige Ingram (Bexley), and Caden Mesina. Team Two consists of Anmol Acharya*, Jack Kennedy (Gahanna Lincoln), Christopher Kowalewski*, and Xander Mooney*.  
* indicates the student qualified for Nationals in two events. 

These students from both chapters will go on to compete at the BPA National Leadership Conference, which will be held in Chicago, Ill. between May 10-14.
