Four students from the Eastland-Fairfield Career & Technical Schools Marketing & Logistics Management satellite program will be heading to Orlando, Fla. to compete at the DECA International Conference this April.

The DECA state conference was held on March 10-11 at the Hyatt Regency Columbus, where nearly a dozen students represented Eastland-Fairfield and the Marketing & Logistics satellite program. Of those competing in individual events, senior Richie Saelim (Groveport Madison) emerged as the top placer after taking fourth place in the Principles of Finance category. He will advance to the DECA International Conference.

Joining him in Orlando will be a team of three Groveport Madison students that built and delivered an award-worthy presentation about its operation of the GMHS spirit store, The Cruiser Shop. Seniors Braylan James, Jonya Russell, and Marisa Jones earned top-5 placement in the School-Based Enterprise category.

Whitehall-Yearling senior Kevin Inguil placed inside the top 10 in the Accounting Applications event.

The Marketing & Logistics Management program is housed at Groveport Madison High School and is one of eight satellite programs that Eastland-Fairfield offers to 11th and 12th-grade students. The program is also the only one that belongs to the national DECA career-technical student organization.

DECA (Distributive Education Clubs of America) is a global high school and collegiate student organization that prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs for careers in marketing, finance, hospitality, and management. DECA is a not-for-profit Career and Technical Student Organization with more than 215,000 members in nearly all 50 United States, Canada, Puerto Rico, and Germany.
