Forty Students Will Represent EFCTS at HOSA State Competition

Following their presentations at HOSA-Future Health Professionals Region 5 conference held in mid-February, 40 Eastland-Fairfield students learned that they advanced to compete at the state competition in mid-March.

One male student dressed in a black blazer poses after completing his HOSA event.The Bioscience satellite program, located at Gahanna Lincoln High School, will send 36 of the 40 state-qualifying students to the state competition, which includes seven first-place finishes from the regional competition. In the program’s first year of existence, the Sports Medicine program at Gahanna will send four qualifiers to the state conference in Columbus.

Congratulations to Gahanna Lincoln juniors Antonio Dejanov, Bryce Evans, and Nathan Highland, as well as Jordan Simpson for being the Sports Medicine program’s first representatives at the HOSA state conference. Dejanov, Evans, and Highland are members of the Health Education event team, while Simpson competes with her sister, Jaisen, a Bioscience student, on the Forensic Science event team.

In addition, the following students will represent Eastland-Fairfield with submissions for recognition events: Asa Mattson (Jr., Gahanna Lincoln) in HOSA Happenings and Amayah Robinson (Jr., Reynoldsburg) in Medical Art. Addison Goare (Jr., Gahanna Lincoln) will assemble and present the EFCTS HOSA chapter’s submission for the Gold Emblem School Award, a distinction outlining chapter excellence.

The HOSA State Leadership Conference will be held on March 16-17, 2023, at the Greater Columbus Convention Center.
