Career technical education is becoming more in demand than ever before, especially in Central Ohio. That sentiment is reflected in the most recent enrollment numbers at Eastland-Fairfield Career & Technical Schools. The district is celebrating the largest incoming junior class in its recorded history.

As of the first day of classes, August 15, Eastland-Fairfield reported a record-breaking 999 incoming juniors across all of its two-year high school programs. Previous years had not seen enrollment surpass 900 in a given class.

The increase can be attributed to multiple factors all having an impact on Eastland-Fairfield student enrollment numbers. The industry demand within fields addressed by EFCTS program choices, the importance of career readiness to combat student debt, and interest in developing students for the next phase of their life journey have generated an increased interest in career-technical education, in general. Eastland-Fairfield has expanded its program options over recent years to address in-demand fields and future opportunities, such as the introduction of Robotics & Automation, which will debut in Fall 2023, Firefighting, which was introduced in 2021, and two sections of Sports Medicine, which began this Fall.

“We are very excited to see junior enrollment numbers increase at Eastland-Fairfield, especially ahead of the exciting news of Intel coming to Central Ohio,” said Superintendent/CEO Dr. Kimberly Pietsch Miller. “These increases show that students and their families see the value of a career-technical education, the opportunities available to our students, and Eastland-Fairfield in its ability to prepare students for the next phase of their life journey.”

Eastland-Fairfield proudly serves 16 local school districts and 17 high schools across a 700-square-mile region in Central Ohio. By Fall 2023, it will offer students 33 different program choices between its two main campuses and its satellite programming, which is located in four different partner high schools.
