Students from the Eastland Career Center chapter of Business Professionals of America (BPA) had great success in their recent state competitions, held on March 10, 2022. Five individuals and a four-person team of students will represent the Eastland Career Center BPA chapter at the national convention in Austin, Texas, which is slated for May 4-8, 2022. A tandem of students from the Programming & Software Development program will compete for Best in Show after creating a playable video game of original content using a variety of skills including writing scripts and application code, database management, media creation, and product testing. The group includes seniors Montez Boyd Starks (Groveport Madison), Dylan Burton (Teays Valley), Diego Mendoza (Groveport Madison), and Dylan Miller (Groveport Madison).

From the Interactive Media program, senior and BPA officer Elise Woodard (Gahanna Lincoln) qualified for Nationals in the Virtual Promotional Photography category. Two additional Programming & Software students, junior Ethan Dyckes (Gahanna Lincoln) and senior Dylan Miller (Groveport Madison, qualified for Nationals in their respective competitions. Junior Tina Johnson (Reynoldsburg HS2) and senior Alondra Agueros (New Albany) represented the Medical Office lab by qualifying in the Health Administration Procedures and Integrated Office Application categories, respectively.

The state competition was held at the Hyatt Regency in downtown Columbus on March 10th with the awards ceremony following the next day. Students from career technical schools all over the state joined to compete and share in comradery through shared interests.
